Yellow house

GULT HUS MED HUL_YELLOW HOUSE WITH A HOLE

YEAR: 2004.

GROUP EXHIBITION: Kerteminde Harbour, Kerteminde, Denmark.

MATERIALS: Wood, house, square, foam rubber, and textile.

YELLOW HOUSE WITH A HOLE is a small house placed in Kerteminde Harbour. The house is positioned over the water on stones and columns. By crossing stones and a small footbridge, the public can walk to the house and spend time in there. The outside of the house is painted yellow and inside there is a double bed with a yellowcovered mattress.
At the foot of the bed there is a hole leading on down
through the floor to the water under the house. A rope is tied to the leg of the double bed. The rope passes through the hole and down into the water. This allows visitors to lower themselves throug the hole in the house and down into the water.

YELLOW HOUSE WITH A HOLE is a repetition, a recycling originating from the house and the idea behind FREE and WOOLHOUSE. FREE, WOOLHOUSE and YELLOW HOUSE WITH A HOLE can be considered a complete work. The idea behind the house is that the house is a body performing various transformations via its geographical and cultural surroundings as well as through human relations. I am focusing on the entire process of producing the house as material. The erection of the house in the garden, the actual transportation with cranes
driving to and from, the place itself and the function of the house are all part of the work. The house is built for two people to sleep and dream together. The harbour, the sky, the water and the hole in the house all visualize and establish a »place« for two people with their different modes of relation; providing an opportunity to meld together and become one.
