WATER SEA BAR

YEAR: 2009.

GROUP EXHIBITION:
“Deep Green”, Den frie udstillingsbygning, Oslo Plads, Copenhagen.

MATERIALS: flamingo, textile, water, metallic.
Size: 3,5 m x 88 cm

WATER SEA BAR as a construction is both utopia and reality, combined in a floating drinking water post. Water Sea Bar is a floating water bar whit a water machine that converts seawater into drinking water. On the topmost terrace is a tap from which the audience is encouraged to draw a glass of water. In the ocean saltwater is pumped dup straight from the sea and through a device converted into drinking water. In the exhibition the water is pumped dup from a tank placed near the island. The water bar and the pump bringing up the water are intended to run on solar cells whose placement in the exhibited model will be marked by mirrors on the terrace plans.

Water Sea Bar as a utopia is a narrative referencing both Noah’s Ark and Robinson Crusoe.

”One story is about disaster and the ingenuity to save the world. The other is about being saved but being unable to get away again and being confronted whit isolation from the rest the world. The stories share the aspect that one can survive from the minimal principles, which the water bar also represents. Similarly the water bar is based on a circle’s and cell’s construction – water is literally a bringer of life and death.

The water machine is sponsored by HOH Water Technology A/S www.hoh.com.
