DET KONTEMPLATIVE HJEM_THE CONTEMPLATIVE HOME

GROUP EXHIBITION: Stalke Galleri, Copenhagen, Denmark.

MATERIALS: Video: master Hi8, monitor, ink drawings, black-andwhite 24x36 mm negative, 280x220 cm photostat. Wooden table, bathtub, and black-and-white photocopy wallpaper.

THE CONTEMPLATIVE HOME consists of 10 ink drawings where the public can see 10 different ways to furnish the walls and practical functions of a two-room apartment. Anja Franke herself lives in the apartment at this time.
The installation also consists of a multitable featuring
the space and practical functions a person needs in day-to-day life: a kitchen, a bath, storage for clothes and shelving for things and not least, a place to sleep. The wall behind the multitable has been papered with a pattern of the space from the two-room apartment. A monitor mounted in a corner opposite the table plays a video dialogue. The dialogue is a loop narrating the meeting between Anja Franke and Kaj Aage Drafenharden in a supermarket where he is buying eggs.

THE CONTEMPLATIVE HOME is a way for me to transform everyday objects and events into another more meditative space through repetition.
