TEA WITH A VIEW
YEAR: 2011
SOLO EXHIBITION: presented by InstantHERLEV institute.
MATERIALS: tree, sun cells and homemade china.
Size: D: 80 cm x L: 200 cm x H: 175 cm.
TEA WITH A VIEW is a public sculpture placed in the open landscape. The construction is a frame where people can sit down, take a break and fill the empty space and the open view with individual thoughts, dreams and imaginations. And at the same time have a cup of tea made of water heated by sun energy.
Inside the frame is posted teacups. The teacups are special because they are used white china colleted by me and painted with a new abstract blue pattern. The pattern is referring to the classical Danish china called “Musselmalet”. The cups are a part of the whole china collection I have called WASTESERVICE.
TEA WITH A VIEW is focused on the fact that the viewer can’t stand outside and watch the landscape, but is part of the landscape with body and mind.
The viewer is no longer outside the esthetical space, but has to interact and give meaning with your individual actions.
TEA WITH A VIEW is in that way both, a esthetical and poetic space in the same time political and point out that it is the individual person there make the meaning in the public space and have influence on the environment by the action we as individual person do.
