LIVING SPACE

LIVING SPACE

YEAR: 1999.

GROUP EXHIBITION: »Not Just for Fun«, The Living Art Museum, Reykjavik, Iceland.

MATERIALS: Foam rubber cushions with white covers,
black-and-white photocopy wallpaper.

LIVING SPACE consists of a number of foam rubber cushions. All the cushions are covered in white textile. The cushions are placed in a corner where the surrounding walls are covered with wallpaper. The pattern on the wallpaper is a photograph from a model of a two-room apartment I was living in at the time.

Since the image on the wallpaper is a model of my private home it creates a subjective territory surrounding the white cushions. Visitors can take the cushions from the arrangement and find their own place to settle down in the museum. During the day the cushions are scattered by the visitors and regathered every evening.
