AIR BOX YEAR: 1994. SOLO EXHIBITION: Max Mundus, Copenhagen, Denmark. MATERIALS: Plastic bag with freeze-dried apples, dialogue text, elastic, silk, wood and metal. A transparent, white box hangs suspended under the ceiling. The box is sewn from white silk with a zipper on the front. The top of the box features pieces of elastic – one at each corner. Elastic is suspendeddiagonally across the exhibition room. The ends of the elastic have been gathered and attached to a plastic bag on the floor. The contents of the plastic bag are vacuum-packed. It contains 20 old, shrunken, freeze-dried apples. AIR BOX presents the female body as a figure deconstructed and divided. Anja Franke, 1994: »Air Box is all about three parts: illusions of immaculate transmission, femininity as an impact and the erotic phase.« BACK TO PROJECTS |
