ÆBLER_ APPLES YEAR: 1995. SOLO EXHIBITION: Galleri LXX, Aarhus, Denmark. MATERIALS: Pencil drawing on paper, wooden shelves and glass jam-jars with freeze-dried apples. 18 framed pencil drawings; all placed on rails mounted on the wall in two rows, one above the other. Each drawing shows an old, shrivelled apple. The apples begin in 1:1 and are gradually scaled up. The apples on the drawings are drawn from the apples standing on a little shelf in jam-jars. The apples in the jam-jars are freeze-dried and shrivelled. The installation APPLES is a monument to the apples – a mausoleum. This is my final gesture in the sequence the »apple-exhibitions«. Here the apples have been drawn and exhibited on the wall like traditional artworks. The last remnants of the apples are in the lidded jam-jars. The apples are freeze-dried, arresting their decay, mummifying them. BACK TO PROJECTS |
